In the summer of 2014 I was one of twenty interns at World Vision US, the North America headquarters for the largest NGO in the world. My official role was Finance, Capacity, Learning & Development Intern and my mail responsibility was to develop a 60 page SharePoint website used by World Vision's 44,000 staff to access finance and accounting information and resources.
My biggest takeaways came from the conversations I had with all the World Vision employees I met. I learned all about World Vision's ADP (Area Development Program) model through which they engage communities in a 15 year holistic development program.
This upcoming summer I am serving as Operations Intern with a social enterprise in Port-au-Prince, Haiti called
REBUILD Globally/ Deux Mains. It will be my longest time out of the country (2 1/2 months), but I am eager to learn from the Haitian artisans working at the organization and build on my summer at World Vision.
